A Little bit about me...
Ever since I was a kid growing up in Wisconsin, I have had an appreciation for nature. As I grew older, my interest in the intersection of the environment and policy led me to pursue a degree in Government at Harvard University, and a law degree from the University of Virginia.
Over the past 30 years, I've gained experience as an advocate on energy and environmental law matters. While a partner at Latham & Watkins, a leading international law firm, I represented clients before the California Public Utilities Commission on major electric and natural gas infrastructure projects and rulemakings related to renewable energy. I also advised clients on climate change regulation. I represented businesses in federal and state court litigation in California and other states on matters involving compliance with environmental laws. As the former Vice-President and General Counsel of GreenVolts, Inc., a solar energy start-up, I became familiar with the issues faced by renewable energy companies.
Education is also of great importance to me, and I served two terms on the Board of Education in Piedmont, California, where I currently live with my wife, Barbara, and daughter, Genevieve. In my free time, I enjoy traveling with my family, and taking hikes in the local regional parks.
