President Trump said during the campaign that he would like to abolish the EPA, or 'leave a little bit.' This man is out of his mind, and has zero regard for our environment, and our future.
UNDER ATTACK
The new administration, put in place by Donald Trump, are fierce critics of the role of the Environmental protection agency, and their stance on climate change. The former head of President Donald Trump's transition team at the Environmental Protection Agency, Myron Ebell, said in an interview that he would like to see the agency cut in half. The EPA has been roiled by turmoil during its first week under Trump, as members of the transition team issued what it has described as a temporary freeze on all contract approvals and grant awards. Trump's representatives also instituted a media blackout, clamping down on media releases, social media posts and other external communications issued by career staff.
“There is a fear in the entire US science community and, frankly, internationally too. People fear retribution over their work. There’s a feeling that climate scientists are being targeted. Scientists are also hearing that budget cuts will be quite severe.”
For years the EPA has done research to protect Americans from dangerous pollutants and implemented crucial environmental protection laws like the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act. These regulations do more than protect the environment: they protect public health.
WE MUST PROTECT THE EPA
- Petition against proposed budget cuts
- Keep EPA staff at its current level
- Defend the EPA against unjust lawsuits
- Pressure the President to appoint a qualified leader for the EPA
- Maintain the EPA's enforcement arm
